Short answers to the questions I get most.
What is Measured Motion?
A small, tidy notebook where I learn physiotherapy in public—short journal entries and practical notes that help me (and hopefully you) make calmer decisions.
Who’s writing this?
I’m Joshua, starting the MSc Physiotherapy (Pre-registration) at the University of Birmingham. First-Class BSc in Sport & Exercise Science; keen on stroke/neuro, early mobility, and outcome measures.
Who is this for?
Students and new Band 5s who like plain English, neat notes, and evidence they can actually use on the ward.
Is this medical advice?
No. Educational only. I never share patient-identifiable information and I follow local policies and senior guidance.
How do you handle evidence?
I appraise quickly with CASP and PEDro, link primary sources, give a TL;DR, and date-stamp updates. If I change my mind, I say why.
What if the evidence changes?
Posts have a “Last reviewed” date. I update or add a note. If you spot something that’s moved, nudge me—I’ll fix it.
How often will you post?
Aim: one short entry a week. Some weeks you’ll get an evidence snapshot; others, anatomy or ward craft.
Can I suggest a paper or topic?
Please do. Use my LinkedIn link and let me know why it’s useful.
Can I use your notes for teaching or study groups?
Yes—link to the page and credit Measured Motion. Please don’t copy whole posts elsewhere.
Do you take questions about individual cases?
No—those belong with your clinical team. I’m happy to discuss general pathways or evidence.
Why so much focus on “plain English”?
Because on busy days, clarity is kinder. If a note doesn’t make the next step easier, it doesn’t ship.
Will you share placement reflections or patient stories?
Only de-identified, high-level learning points—and only when appropriate. Privacy comes first.
How can I contact you?
Contact me on LinkedIn.
Are you open to mentoring/shadowing/research-assistant roles?
Yes—especially around stroke/neuro, early mobility, outcome measures, and QI/audit.
Accessibility?
I’m aiming for clean contrast, readable sizes, and minimal motion. If something’s hard to read, tell me and I’ll fix it.
Can I get updates?
For now: follow the blog or connect on LinkedIn. A simple email list may come later.
